What's happening at TLC Farm: Highlights from 2013

2013 was a busy year here at Tryon Life Community Farm,

and we want to share some of our highlights with you.

During 2013, the good folk at TLC Farm:

1. Re-wrote our mission statement:  TLC Farm brings people together to root into relationships with each other and the land, by  sharing tools for community-based sustainability and social change, and tending resilient ecosystems.

2. Purchased a 30-foot yurt, and have spent most of the year making it lovely and warm. See the yurt photo collage to get a feel   of  all the love and labor that's gone into this project.

3. Hosted over 500 students, from pre-school through college, on tours of TLC Farm. Schools and programs served include:       Headstart Pre-school, Cedarwood Waldorf School, Oregon Episciopal School, Boys & Girls Aid Society, Portland State                 University, Lewis & Clark College, Evergreen State College, and many more.

4. Hosted retreats for several organizations, including Right 2 Dream 2, the Kasama Project and more.

5. Removed massive amounts of blackberries from the conservation easement and re-planted with native plants, in partnership   with the Tryon Creek Watershed Council.

6. Hosted the Mother Earth School all-outdoor pre-school, kindergarten and summer camp. Over 60 children participate in           the unique and transformative Mother Earth School programs at TLC Farm.

7. Tended the charismatic dairy goat herd, and sold hundreds of gallons of raw milk to local families.

8. Tended the garden and abundant orchards (it was a truly magnificent fruit year). Pressed a lot of apple cider to share                      with volunteers.
